Carla Collins is an award-winning comedian, actress, television host and writer. A gifted stand-up, she has been hailed by the Canadian press as Canada’s Tina Fey and the Queen of Comedy, and performs all over the United States and Canada.
Carla is also a regular at the Hollywood Improv and The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. She often tours with the renowned Hot Tamales and with her own comedy stage show Venus Envy. Collins’ hysterical television series Carlawood is a hit with viewers and critics alike. Season two of the highly acclaimed docu-comedy is now airing on TVtropolis and the Global Reality Channel.
Collins is the subject of a documentary film entitled Who the Hell is Carla Collins? which is currently shooting in LA. Carla’s CTV Comedy Now special The Wonder Bra Years won the gold award at the Houston Comedy Festival and she has performed at Just for Laughs, the Los Angeles Comedy Festival, and the Vancouver Comedy Festival. She currently appears in the CBC Winnipeg Comedy Festival television special Does this Joke Make Me Look Fat.
Carla just finished filming the movie The Extra with her husband Tyrone Power and she stars in the short films Brain Freeze and Pizza Bagel set for release in 2012. She can also be seen this season on Scare-tactics and has appeared on just about every Canadian TV show including Entertainment Tonight, Degrassi: The Next Generation, Paradise Falls and Chez Carla. She currently co-hosts Between the Sheets, a wild, no-holds barred podcast which can be heard on www.hottalkla.com.
Carla’s first book Angels, Vampires and Douche Bags released by Burman Books is touted as the world’s first comedic motivational tome. This bestselling book has received unanimous glowing reviews. Carla is also a contributor for More Magazine and the Huffington Post.
Collins was the first woman in Canada to anchor a major market morning radio show on Toronto’s Mix 99.9.
Carla currently lives in Malibu with her actor husband and rescue wonder dogs Miles and Dr. Zira. Collins practices yoga, Kabbalah and consults with a psychic colon therapist. She is now officially one stint in rehab away from becoming a complete Hollywood cliché.
